Logic Advent calendar: The Workshop Tree
One logic puzzle a day, from 1 to 24 December. Every answer relights a bauble on the big tree, and on the 24th the letters spell out a secret message.

What you get
- The printable calendar: a cover, the big tree sheet (to keep all month) and 24 boxes to cut out, one puzzle per box
- 24 puzzles that get harder little by little: AND, OR, NOT and XOR logic gates, sequences, patterns, deductions, codes, a maze, binary, sudoku…
- The calendar page, which opens on a phone or computer, no internet needed: each box opens on its own day from 1 December, you check your answer there and the day's letter appears in the tree; before then the boxes stay closed on purpose; a parent code lets you try it out
- The parent's guide, on two pages: the solutions explained, the final message and the parent mode code
- Print it as many times as you like for your family
Who is it for?
To count down to Christmas with a little thinking every morning: ages 8 to 12, with a parent, 5 to 10 minutes a day. No printer? Every puzzle is also on the calendar page.
How to print
Print at home on A4, single-sided, at 100% (“Fit” on US Letter). 25 pages, 11 of them blank on purpose (the backs of the cut-out boxes); black and white is fine.
How do I print the kits?
On a home printer, on A4, single-sided and at 100% (actual size, not “fit to page”); on US Letter paper, choose “Fit”. Use the same setting for every page. Many printers switch to double-sided on their own: check that setting before you print. Just in case, the pieces to cut out or lay on top of each other have a blank page on the back; when printing single-sided you can skip those pages (their numbers are on the kit's cover). Colour looks nicer, but every puzzle works in black and white. The cover is optional. You can reprint the kit as many times as you like for your own games.
Which language?
Everything is in English (British spelling): the printable calendar, the parent's guide and the calendar page. The same calendar also exists in French. The word puzzles were rewritten in English, not just translated, so every answer and the final message are in English too.
Set the mood
The kit is drawn to print in black and white. To set the mood, three pictures from the Winter collection of our gallery, free to rebuild online (they are not in the kit).
